KEY BENEFITS

LOCAL GOVERNMENT PENSION SCHEME

The Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) is a valuable part of the pay and reward package for employees working the Trust. This offers a secure pension where your pension is calculated every year and added to your pension account. You also have the flexibility to pay more or less contributions which you would get tax relief on.

In the scheme you also have the option in the LGPS to pay half your normal contributions in return for half your normal pension. This is known as the 50/50 section of the scheme and is designed to help members stay in the scheme when times are financially tough. You also have the freedom to take your pension at the age of 55 if you wish.

Members of the LGPS also have lots of perks and flexibility with redundancy and retirement which varies dependant on the situation. You can find out more on the LGPS website - https://www.lgpsmember.org/toj/thinking-joining-key.php

INCREMENTAL PROGRESSION AND COST OF LIVING RISES

If you are appointed to a grade that is paid on the nationally negotiated salary scale, then every year you should expect your salary to go up by one spine point until you reach the top spine point for your grade. You will also have a cost of living increase when applied nationally by the Government.
